Literacy and Numeracy

Heavy Sound works in partnership with local High Schools to help support young people with literacy and numeracy. With a qualified teacher on-site, young people are supported one-to-one to work through appropriate National 3 and National 4 qualifications in English and Maths, either in conjunction with the work they are doing in school or more independently, depending on the young person’s needs and school experience. All young people will be met where they are in their own learning and supported to progress in their studies, regardless of the complexity of their learning needs and education. As with all aspects of Heavy Sound, the young person’s learning will be underpinned by the organisation’s central focus on the importance of building strong, supportive relationships with their young people, making learning here both trauma-informed, young-person centred and future orientated.
