Unpaid Work Bike Workshop

The UPW bike workshop is a collaborative project between Heavy Sound and East Lothian Council’s Justice Social Work Services. The original project also included Hamish Maclean from Go For The Gap.

Its aims are to build positive relationships with the participants and to provide a mentoring service that will address their previous behaviours and their decision-making processes, with the ultimate aim to prevent re-offending.  The project delivers general bike mechanics tied to analysing, prioritising, planning and execution of workload along with healthy relationships, decision making and building resilience by learning new skills.

The programme allows those working within the project to give something meaningful back to their communities.
