The Bike Project

Our comprehensive bike programme combines bike maintenance, good workshop practise and bike rides in around the stunning East Lothian scenery. The Heavy Sound bike team are all trained to Velotech Gold standard and are qualified Cycle Ride Leaders. They have years of experience in cycling and running bike workshops.

The maintenance element of the course takes place in our new dedicated workshop in Cockenzie, right on the John Muir Way and the National Cycle Network Route #76.

On completion of this course participants will be able to assess a bike for safety and faults and be able to adjust it to their size and requirements. Participants will be able to undertake basic maintenance of a bike and safely carry out work in a workshop environment. Bicycles, parts and equipment are all provided but participants are welcome to bring their own bikes along to repair and learn how to maintain for the future.

Qualifications & Certification

Through our bike projects, we can offer participants the opportunity to enroll with Edinburgh College on the Heavy Sound course. We currently offer the SQA Cycling Award at SCQF level 1 & 2, GoMTB awards and can also support you through qualifications in areas such as Positive Relationships and Well-being.
