We’re sharpening up our appearance and refreshing our branding. We’ll be back soon.
Heavy Sound is a Non-Profit organisation in East Lothian that offers a community-based alternative to mainstream education for care-experienced, justice-experienced, and neurodivergent young people aged 11 to 15, and their families, who are not engaged by school.
We provide a transition service for 16 to 21-year-olds into further learning, training and employability, as well as pathways onto our Youth Advisory Board and support young people in contact with the justice system and in prisons.
Heavy Sound offers music, mixed digital media such as broadcasting and film, biking and mechanics, sports, cooking, and person-centred learning and development focused on individual interests and skills.
How it Started
Heavy Sound began in 2011 as a music-making-based outreach programme working with children and young people in residential and secure care services, and communities.
Watch our 2016 project documentary, In the Frame, to see how we developed our model.
